With Uma História da Dúvida (Prémio Almada '98, a performing arts' award given in 1998 by the Ministry of Culture) the relationship between Clara Andermatt and Cape Verde reached a rare moment of aesthetic felicity. It is a tale of doubts (What is love? What is doubt? What is the future? What is the end of the world?) that musicians and dancers translate into a flow of movements simultaneously melancholic and martial. A choreographic moment of poetic muscularity, where the differences that supposedly separate a gesture of the body from a musical chord are progressively blurred. A choreographed concert or a musical choreography? Our doubts linger...

"Uma Historia da Dúvida, premiered in 1998 in the Festival Mergulho no Futuro, is one of Clara Andermatt's and the European choreographic art's greatest productions."
