The Erva Daninha company brings us VÃO [GAP] a unique contemporary circus show, continuing their research work into new ways of making and showing this art. Two characters share the stage like it was a one-way road, congested with information, illusion and influences. Throughout the show, this univocal space is being turned into a laboratory space. In it, the characters attempt to cross the gap between reality and imagination. Their interior turmoil and the unpredictability of events cause them to now cooperate, now fight among themselves. In the tense, unexpected atmosphere of VÃO, risk and illusion lead the viewer through skilful acrobatics and object manipulation, turning them into means for the communication of emotions and ideas. The meeting-point of two creators from different generations, each with his own technique and life experience – Vasco Gomes, a juggler who is also the artistic director of Erva Daninha, and Leonardo Ferreira, an acrobat who has just graduated from the Centre National des Arts du Cirque –, VÃO is an enquiry into the paths we desire and those that life offers us, as well as into the transformations the body undergoes while facing the adversities of those paths.
