The Circolando company celebrates its 20 years, a round and pretty mature age. With 20.20 , with the artistic direction of André Braga and Cláudia Figueiredo, Circolando acknowledges the festiveness of the date, while at the same time attempting to present a reflection on its itinerary so far. Drawing inspiration from the “archive-body” concept developed by André Lepecki, 20.20 takes its starting-point from a set of documental materials – texts, movements, research subjects, musical compositions and objects – in order to, without a shred of nostalgia or revivalism, “find yet unexplored creative fields rich with new possibilities”. The concern here is the invention of new lives and forms for these original materials, exploring the shadowy areas of memory, its closeness to dreaming, the past-present-future intersection. Out of this stirring of the past, clues for the future emerge, along with what truly matters: the pulsation of life. In 20.20 , Circolando celebrates and shares the experience of artistic creation as a laboratory, ruled by a desire for challenge and innovation that remains as restless as ever.
