KAMP

Description

Is it possible to speak the unspeakable and fulfil the unfulfillable? All these productions from the 31st Porto International Puppet Festival (FIMP) that now come to our stage share these challenges. KAMP has been performed for the past fifteen years. That longevity is attributable to the Hotel Modern company’s eloquent reply to a chilling question: what unspoken words can the theatre use to bring before us the horror of the Holocaust? KAMP takes us on a journey through the everyday life in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Thus we become, via an interplay of small and large scale – between the thousands of tiny marionettes, their audiovisual amplification and the physical presence of the actors –, the witnesses of a planned genocide.
