Artaud

Description

Theatre, in the words and life Artaud has bequeathed us, is “a plague_,_ an avenging scourge, a redeeming epidemic”. This sort of epigraph would perfectly fit the work of Sergio Boris, who for some decades has been one of the most important figures of the Argentinian theatre. In the unique interweaving of universes that is Artaud, a psychiatric hospital, a metaphor of the many we are and of the endless ghosts that inhabit us, can one day become nothing more than the car park of a cultural centre, the place where arbitrary decisions are made. In this allegory of the crisis and collapse of a system, the one of mental health in modern world, but also, according to Artaud, the system of the theatre as a tyranny of the text, Sergio Boris questions the meanders of insanity and freedom.
