Drama Clubs | Travels through Our Homeland

Description

Everything began with the magical words Once Upon a Time… Last December, two fables took the stage of the TNSJ: they were the corollary of the first work cycle of our U-18 and U-88 Drama Clubs, which focused on an idea of repertoire (Shakespeare’s). The second cycle had the words of Gil Vicente and Camões going head-to-head with the audiovisual sphere. Due to the pandemic, E se Gil Vicente passasse na Netflix?__[What if Gil Vicente was on Netflix?] was on the Zoom platform, pulling the carpet from under the streaming giant. E se Os Lusíadas fossem uma Odisseia no Espaço? [What if the Lusiads was a Space Odyssey?], the creation of the U-88 Drama Club, was shown inter pares, due to the constraints of the pandemic situation. In October, new three-month long work cycles will begin. With the idea of voyage as leitmotiv and Portuguese dramaturgy as inspirational subject, Viagens pela Nossa Terra [Travels through Our Homeland] will make of Bernardo Santareno’s dramatic work its starting-point, at the last quarter of the year. On the following, the nineteenth century dramaturgy will serve as a compass through a territory we call Portuguese theatre.
