Rottweiler

Description

Rottweiler is Antonio Bermudez鈥檚 nom de guerre. Jaime Reverter is the host of Lights and Shadows, a 鈥渉ard-hitting, real鈥 show that does not 鈥渟ugar-coat the facts鈥. A TV studio, a live interview, an outcome tinged by the colours of tragedy. Rottweiler is a reflection on the use of violence by people who engage in far-right movements and the way certain TV shows manipulate information. This work by Spanish playwright Guillermo Heras, written in 2006, at a time in which the concepts of 鈥渇ake news鈥 and 鈥減ost-truth鈥 had not yet achieved the central position they hold today, can be seen as possessing a premonitory quality. Stage director Ricardo Sim玫es brings us a scenic approach that questions how lies are diffused under the guise of truth. 鈥淲hat can we believe when we hear, read or view a piece of news?鈥, this Teatro do Noroeste 鈥 Centro Dram谩tico de Viana production asks us. What is truth? What is violence?
