Description
It’s up to the Gropius Quartet, in a national premiere, to bring to a close the first edition of MUSIC4L-MENTE, the cycle interweaving music and the neurosciences. This celebrated string quartet, which draws its name and inspiration from the German architect and founder of the Bauhaus art school, strives to extract the compositional structure of each musical piece, making it recognisable via its passionate rendition. The quartet applies that approach to pieces by Mendelssohn, Fazıl Say and Dvořák, accompanied in the last one by pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, the curator of _MUSIC4L-MENTE. Stefan Kölsch, in his scientific prelude, explains how the music that surprises us induces emotions.
