Description
In Iphigénie, Tiago Rodrigues sparks off a mnemonic archaeology by taking on Euripides’ play. This examination of collective memory – “I am made of the noise of others”, to use the words of poet and stage director Antoine Vitez –, war, justice and love provides the basis for the staging work of Claudia Stavisky, the director of Lyon’s Théâtre des Célestins. “Imagine a bistro or tavern, where people eat and drink, while young people of today, whose names are Orestes, Electra and Iphigenia, play ball on the vacant lot next door, forgetful of the origin of their names until something or someone appears and demands that they remember it.” This show is presented within the scope of NÓS/NOUS, a project aimed at enriching theatrical culture exchange between France, Galicia and Portugal, considering them as a common scenic territory. Developed by the National Theatres of Porto and Lisbon in collaboration with four Drama Schools, NÓS/NOUS promotes the professionalisation and internationalisation of final-year Drama students, by putting them in contact with internationally renowned creators.
