Sinopse do evento
In six days, Shakespeare created the world, and on the seventh he did not rest. Nor on the next day, nor ever. Shakespeare is never-ending. Should actors stop using their voices or words lose their musicality, new languages and ways to perform his work would immediately emerge. Stage director Marco Paiva brings us one such innovative approach: a Richard III in Portuguese and Spanish Sign Language, with a cast comprising performers from both countries and subtitled in Portuguese. Just imagine the Duke of Gloucester’s tragic rise to the throne, with its sinister trail of blood, hatred and intrigue, told without spoken words, but with all the power and beauty of gestures. A Richard III that is political and poetical, mysterious and intensely visual at once. The “damned” king’s story is the same, except now what can’t be told by the voice is told by the whole body.
