A concert cycle with poetic preludes

Sinopse do evento

With the fragrance of Piazzolla’s Nuevo Tango and the poetic sensibility of Liszt, MUSICAL-MENTE continues its exploration of the elective affinities between music and poetry. The roots of the visionary power of the Argentinian composer’s tangos can also be found in the influence of the words from poets like Jorge Luis Borges and Horacio Ferrer. In March, Uruguayan singer Ana Karina Rossi, Ferrer’s muse and one of the foremost voices in contemporary tango, will be accompanied by a quintet of great musicians, led by Héctor del Curto, the famous Argentinian bandoneon player, a New York resident who recorded with Piazzolla himself, as well as with other tango legends such as Osvaldo Pugliese. In May, Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro will lead us through some of the most extraordinary piano pieces by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt, inspired by Dante, Victor Hugo, Lamartine or Petrarch. A special highlight will be the Sonata Dante, a.k.a. Sonata quasi una Fantasia: Après une lecture du Dante, a programmatic musical rereading of Victor Hugo’s poem with the same title and of the Divine Comedy.
