Sinopse do evento
Michelle, a French girl of Portuguese descent, comes to Portugal against her family’s will, in an attempt to find a man who may be her biological grandfather. Besides this man, whose existence is shrouded in mystery, Michelle also encounters the harsh reality of a community of migrants from the country’s South. This contemporary tragedy develops as “an intergenerational family drama about trauma, abandonment and separations”. Sul [South] is part 2 of a diptych on migrations, written and staged by Tiago Correia; part 1 was O Salto, which dealt with the clandestine Portuguese emigration of the early 1970s. These two pieces aim at ushering in a deeper reflection on the subjects of memory (or oblivion) and the “volatility of contemporary human relationships”.
