Visitações: Camões

During the past six years, Visitations has rooted itself deeply into the school community of the Porto Metropolitan Area. In its seventh edition, the project both increases its presence in the mother city and spreads it further north, to Vila Real, thanks to a partnership with PNA – National Plan for the Arts, that allows it to reach schools and artists of that territory. These two flowerings are part of the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of Luís de Camões’ birth. Inspired by the writer’s life and work, especially The Lusiads and his lyric poems, Marta Freitas Almendra’s original text will be explored by teams from various artistic areas alongside students from guest schools. The aim is to construct a show that will bring Camões’ greatness and mystery closer to the young participants’ life experiences and expectations. In May, during the Porto and Vila Real shows, we will celebrate the theatre, that privileged location that brings together students, teachers, artists and the audience.
