A conversation is perhaps the best way to gauge the power of a language. The linguist Caetano W. Galindo and the Público journalist Nuno Pacheco put our language to the test. Galindo is one of the dramaturgists of Língua Brasileira and the author of Latim em Pó: Um Passeio pela Formação da Nossa Língua. The title of this book [Powdered Latin] was taken from “Língua”, a song by Caetano Veloso: “Flower of Latium, sambadrome, Lusamerica, powdered Latin./ What does this language want, what can it do?”
