Sinopse do evento
“We must lean towards the children and accept their transformation.” Teatro Infantil: A arte cénica perante os olhos da criança [Children’s Theatre: Scenic art before the child’s eyes] is a book that presents a summation of Chiara Guidi’s thought and method, which developed during the 1990s, when the artist decided to bring the children’s eyes upon her own art, involving them in the scenic work almost from the beginning. Divided into two parts, the book presents two distinct angles: on the one hand, Chiara’s inner point of view, which develops itself in a circular motion through memories, images, ideas and intuitions; on the other, the perspective of an outside observer, the philosopher and linguist Lucia Amara, who creates connections with concepts by other philosophers, pedagogues and linguists. “A child has no need for art”, claims Chiara. “But they act like an artist, and like the artist they are able to grasp the discourse’s inner fire” – continues Lucia. This initiatory vocation of the child’s gaze is something Chiara Guidi has always pursued and conveyed through her scenic praxis. Both authors will participate in the talk at the book launch, as well as Hugo Miguel Santos, the book’s translator.
