Teatro São João São Bento da Vitória Monastery and Church

The guided tour of Teatro São João, the century-old and rehabilitated national monument designed by Marques da Silva, offers an intimate look at the building, including its performance and rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and technical areas. The guided tour of the Monastery, our other national monument, includes the Church of São Bento da Vitória, a building of great architectural and ornamental richness. As a whole, the Monastery and Church constitute the largest ecclesiastical building in the city of Porto, built in the 17th and 18th centuries by the monks of the former Portuguese Benedictine Congregation. The visit to the Monastery also includes the monumental Noble Cloister and the White Nights exhibition, reformulated with new scenographic elements. Guided tours of Teatro São João have audio guides in English, French and Spanish and video guides in Portuguese sign language. Visits to the Monastery are conducted in Portuguese or English.
