Os Homens Morrem As Mulheres Sobrevivem

Description

“A dangerous playwright.” “A force of nature.” “The unique outsider in the British Theatre.” It is hard to remain indifferent to Arnold Wesker’s rich and provocative body of work. For the fourth time, the Ensemble company brings to the stage a play by this British dramatist, a central figure of the “angry young men” generation. After Cartas de Amor em Papel Azul [Love Letters On Blue Paper] (2005), Quando Deus Quis um Filho [When God Wanted a Son] (2006) and Primavera Selvagem [Wild Spring] (2019), the latter of which premiered at the TNSJ, the Porto company now presents Men Die Women Survive, directed by Jorge Pinto, who also designed the stage set. Three women, Minerva, Mischa and Claire, sit around the dinner table and discuss their unsuccessful love affairs. What failed? Who is to blame? Is there really a guilty party? Do passion and love come with an expiration date? Out of certainties and doubts, ghosts from the past and a succession of drinks, an unexpected story of betrayal and revenge emerges.
