Visitações: Manuel António Pina

The eighth edition of Visitations – the flagship project of our Educational Centre – draws inspiration from the dramatic and poetic works of Manuel António Pina. A major poet and singular columnist, Pina gave new worlds to dramatic literature for children and young people, or, more precisely, to the theatre at large, because he believed (and so do we) that there is not one type of theatre that is solely for children and another that is the sole province of grown-ups. The concept of the house and the words that inhabit it are essential to him. The same applies to Visitations, which has always defined itself as a house of words and freedom for the school community. “You are what your words listen to; are you listening to your heart (your spoken ‘your heart’)?” This edition of Visitations takes Pina’s words and turns them into its house. The writer himself encourages us to play with all our hearts: “Here are the words, stick your nose in them!”
