Falsas Histórias Verdadeiras: Uma Pina Colagem

“We are trampolinists, fake true pretenders, actors, impersonators, musicians, dancers, singers, storytellers…” In the mind of Manuel António Pina (1943-2012), true and false, being and seeming are not limited to a stage, existing first and foremost in the recreational space of our imagination. Falsas Histórias Verdadeiras: Uma Pina Colagem [Fake True Stories: A Pina Collage] follows the flight of that “mind bird” by using a dramaturgy that embraces all the sources of Pina’s words – plays, poems, newspaper columns – and intends to be for everyone, big or small. The TNSJ’s new artistic director, Victor Hugo Pontes, a stage director and choreographer for whom movement intertwined with word is a keynote, creates an (en)chanted, acrobatic and composite universe, set to music by A Garota Não. Falsas Histórias Verdadeiras: Uma Pina Colagem celebrates the topsy-turvy world of one of Portugal’s greatest poets (winner of the 2011 Camões Prize), in all its humour, verbal inventiveness and nonsensicality. A show that aims to do justice to these words by Pina: “Oh, to piece together all books/ and unimagine the world.”
