Description
In Turma de 95 [Class of 95], a trivial class photograph from 25 years ago operates as a powerful time machine in dramaturgic terms. Appropriating Class of 76, by Alex Kelly, the founder of Third Angel, Raquel Castro revisits and examines her adolescence and that of her classmates by interweaving memories from the past with present-day reality. Using a number of interviews as a starting-point and working within a convention of documentary theatre, the stage director creates, in Turma de 95, a personal portrait of a generation grappling with the expectations and pains of adolescence, in a Portugal that was undergoing an economic expansion and opening itself to Europe.
