Cratera

Description

Cratera [Crater] resumes the investigation that had started in 2016 with Climas, a co-production of CiRcoLando – Central Elétrica and Teatro Nacional São João. At the centre of this new project, we find the theories of Geopoetics, upheld by such authors as Michael Taussig or David Abram, which bring the discussion of ecological matters to a more immediate level, connected to people’s sensibilities and imaginations. The volcanic landscape – fecund and devastating at once – is the chosen research field of André Braga and Cláudia Figueiredo. “The concepts of bowl, womb, rumours, strange languages and timeless imaginative spheres all possess a certain Babelian quality that is seductive to us.” Cratera combines dance, theatre, sound and video. To construct this interdisciplinary “dramaturgy of the landscape”, points of contact must be sought between the topographic breathing, ethnofictions and biographic archives of all our bodies.
