Description
In Sem Medo [Fearless], Teresa Coutinho adapts to the stage Simão Sem Medo, a book by Miguel Granja inspired by José Gomes Ferreira’s classic, Aventuras de João Sem Medo. In this adaptation, Simone, a brave little girl, takes us on a journey through her oneiric universe, overcoming every hurdle and inspiring everyone with her power to believe. Like Lewis Carroll’s Alice, when Simone walks into her grandmother’s wardrobe she discovers several fantastic beings, characters who remind us that the richness of human experience comes from engaging with specificity and difference. The show brings to us that plural world, featuring a strong video component, expanding the physical space and taking us to many of the places the character visits. The inspiring bravery of a child is measured in terms of their openness to the unknown, reminding us that “being fearless means being able to listen to others and acknowledge them”.
